Who are we?

We are a Not-For-Profit organisation dedicated to helping our local communities cut their heating bills and transition to renewable energy.

What do we do?

At River Ivel Community Energy, we’re actively working to reduce energy costs and build a sustainable energy future for the Ivel Valley and beyond. Through local partnerships and hands-on initiatives, we provide expert guidance on energy-saving practices, lead projects to install renewable energy technologies, and collaborate on energy planning tailored to the community’s unique needs. By doing this, we help local residents, businesses, and organisations transition to affordable and sustainable energy solutions that benefit everyone.

Our mission…

We aim to empower individuals, groups, and organisations in the Ivel Valley by providing trusted advice on energy savings, implementing renewable energy projects, and coordinating local energy planning. Our goal is to make energy affordable, sustainable, and accessible for everyone.

How we do it

Powering down

Our network of community energy champions offer trusted, impartial advice on energy and cost savings. River Ivel Community Energy supports households struggling with their energy bills and provides guidance on reducing energy consumption.

Powering up

River Ivel Community Energy develop and manage energy projects in the Ivel Valley that help save money and reduce carbon emissions. These projects include renewable energy installations and low-carbon transport solutions. Funding comes from grants, community finance, and other sources.

Energy planning

River Ivel Community Energy bring communities together to create and execute local energy and decarbonisation plans. Our aim is to encourage participation and ownership, helping communities achieve their Net Zero goals through initiatives.

We support most of eastern Bedfordshire, from Sandy to Stotfold and beyond, see our coverage map here.

Get involved

River Ivel Community Energy were set up by the community for the community. We would welcome all the help we can get! If you would like to get involved in the work of River Ivel Community Energy, help run projects, raise awareness of what we do or have other technical skills or knowledge which you think could be useful, then please email info@riverivelcommunityenergy.com . In future we will be inviting people to become members for specific green energy projects, please follow us here and on our socials for all the latest updates.
